The Defy has always provided superb ride quality--for a road bike. Now, with clearance to fit the kind of tires suited to riding all day long on variable surfaces, you can get out there and live that supple life.
- Tire clearance: Giant says 32c officially. We've fit the WTB Exposure 34c with plenty of room. 35c tires are caveat emptor. We'd suggest at least trying the stock 28c tires because...
- Tubeless tires: helps seal up small punctures, but also allows for a lower PSI for, you guessed it, improved ride quality and bump compliance.
- Total control: Hydraulic disc brakes provide just the right amount of stopping power, exactly when you want it, even when wet.
- D-fuse: Bicycle manufacturers are legally required to use the words "laterally stiff and vertically compliant" in at least 50% of their marketing copy, but danged if it doesn't hold up with the Defy. The specially-shaped seatpost and handlebars really do help with fatigue on long rides.
